From Zen Kutsu Dachi Stance perform:
Mae Geri Chudan Tsuki ( Front kick to the stomach, punch to the stomach)
From Gyakutsuki Dachi stance, perform:
Mae Geri Ura Tsuki (Front kick to stomach, back fist, and reverse punch).
KERI ( KICKS )
From Hanmi Gamae, perform:
Mawashi Geri Jodan ( Roundhouse kick to the face)
Yoko Geri Jodan ( Side kick to the face )
Hiza Geri ( Knee Strike )
Ura Mawashi Geri Jodan ( Reverse Hook Kick )
Keri Ren Raku Waza (Combination Kicking)
UCHI ( STRIKES )
From Uchi Hachi Dachi, perform:
Uchi Shuto Uchi ( Knifehand - Across)
Haito Uchi ( Ridgehand )
Gedan Teisho Uchi (Palm Heel to Groin)
UKE ( BLOCKS )
From Uchi Hachi Dachi, perform:
Haishu Uke ( Back of Hand)
Ude Barai ( Low, sweeping, inwards )
Uchi Shuto Uke ( Inward, knifehand )
IPPON KUMITE
For 4th KYU, - Purple Belt, the karate -ka can choose their own blocks and counters to use against a number of pre determined attacks. However, the blocks and counters must be performed with a
higher degree of skill and accuracy than on previous gradings, and must also be
performed from both Hidari ( Left ) and Migi ( Right ) stance. Also, the block and
counter combinations must be selected from the official Bujinkai Ippon Kumite syllabus, which will be taught to you by your instructor. The attacks to defend against, are :
Attack 1 = Kizami Tsuki - Jodan
Attack 2 = Mawashi Geri - Jodan
Attack 3 = Ushiro Geri - Chudan
Attack 4 = Gyakutsuki - Chudan
Attack 5 = Kin Geri - Gedan
Attack 6 = Mawashi Uchi - Jodan
JIYU KUMITE
The karate-ka must be able to demonstrate good control and varied technique whilst free fighting with a
student of a similar or higher grade. Good fighting spirit is of the utmost importance.
